End-user Communication & Training Plans
The building blocks of any successful
IT initiative
When there is a cost-effective need to build commitment,
motivation
and workforce competence prior to go live.
A well-managed communication and training plan is essential
to implementation success. Too often, implementation project teams
focus only on technical concerns, or entrust poorly qualified or
time restricted internal resources to handle critical end-user
needs.
Unless stakeholders understand the need, benefits, and relevant
specifics about a new system or business change, commitment or
motivation to comply will never develop. And all too often, busy
implementation teams fail to realize how complex and time
consuming developing and coordinating a well-managed training
program can be.
The result is a workforce ill-prepared or unmotivated to succeed
in the new operating environment. Training costs may also
skyrocket, especially since more cost-effective and innovative
approaches to building workforce competence may not of been
properly considered.

Benefits:
Methodically
identifies and addresses the training and communication needs of
all stakeholders, the most efficient forms of delivery, and the
most effective people to deliver.
Minimizes
confusion, anxiety, misperceptions, conflicting messages, and
rumors.
Establishes a rapid
feedback system of all affected stakeholder groups in order to
address emerging needs before they develop into real risks,
threats, or lost opportunities.
Provides
communication “toolkits” and coaching so that busy executives and
project managers can deliver convincing, well crafted messages and
updates with minimal prep time.
Training plans
evaluate the pluses and minuses of different training approaches
(including web-based training, distance training, and other
technologies)) to provide training which is quick, focused,
cost-effective, and doesn’t disrupt organizational operations..
Allows for a
professionally developed and well managed training plan from A-Z
including everything from material development to training
logistics to tracking and registration, to delivery and post
implementation support.
Our Experience:
We have completed numerous large-scale communication campaigns and
customized training programs for numerous Fortune 500 companies
implementing world-wide ERP systems such as Oracle, SAP and
PeopleSoft. We have also completed smaller-scale implementations
at a pace internal teams were not able to duplicate.
We excel on projects with multi-site deployments, have diverse
stakeholder groups, and require innovative ways to keep training
costs down while still developing employee competence.
For one multinational manufacturing company who was upgraded their
ERP systems and needed to retrain over 500 end-users, we carefully
evaluated several approaches to training design and delivery. In
the end, we recommended a highly effective training development
and deployment strategy which was $1.5 million less expensive than
an internally developed plan.
